How We Work

Every Hippie Hued garment begins with a search for the right materials. We source vintage textiles from estate sales, flea markets, and textile archives—each piece chosen for its texture, pattern, and potential.

Sourcing

We look for textiles with history: hand-stitched quilts, woven blankets, embroidered linens, and patchwork pieces. Materials that show signs of use, repair, and care over time.

Deconstruction

Each textile is carefully taken apart, preserving interesting details like original stitching, patches, and worn edges. We study the construction to understand how it was made and how it can be reimagined.

Reconstruction

Using traditional sewing techniques and modern pattern-making, we transform vintage textiles into new garments. Patchwork becomes paneling, quilted sections become pockets, embroidered details become focal points.

Finishing

Every garment is finished by hand in our Chicago studio. Because we work with vintage materials, each piece is truly one-of-one—no two are ever exactly alike.
